Project Bounded
A downloadable game
Hello everyone! Fireblade185 here, with my first post here, regarding Project Bounded, the game I'm working on. And, as the title says, I think it should be of interest (and hopefully debate), because Bounded is probably the most ambitious project in the adult gaming genre.
First and foremost, after presenting the game online, on different platforms or social media, I've got a lot of positive and, occasionally, negative (or should I say, constructive) feedback. Most questions were (obviously) about the game itself, so I've made a proper presentation, with the vision, the approach and details regarding the world, characters and gameplay. It's on my Patreon page, in the About section, but I'll take it that most people here don't want to jump there from the start, so I'll give every detail below.
For those who didn't have the patience, I'll first break down the key points, so you get a comprehensive idea about the project:
- an epic story-driven open world action RPG, set both in the present day and 200 years in the future, with a sci-fi twist linking the two worlds;
- large worlds to explore and enjoy, both grounded and futuristic;
- eye-candy visuals, all running smoothly on budget PC's (the 3060 12 GB is the baseline for 60 FPS at 2K resolution, Epic Settings);
- a rich story that spreads across two centuries and into the furthest corners of the galaxy, featuring spy agencies, space fleets and alien invasions,
- interesting characters from all the aforementioned worlds, fully voice-acted and hand-crafted to look their best in the genre;
- vehicles, guns, spaceships and RPG elements to build your character;
- decision-based gameplay...
...in short....
The long version, if you do have the patience, is as follows:
About the game
The Main Story takes place almost 200 years in the future and it's about love, lust, passion, alien planets, an intergalactic war, choices, and consequences... just to keep it simple... You play the role of Jake Anderson, a 21-year-old kid who has been genetically enhanced before birth with nanites by his father, Scott Anderson, as an experiment.
His mother, Amanda, never agreed to this, which led to them breaking up shortly after Jake was born. Back then, Scott was a captain in the Orion Initiative, Earth's military and space exploration fleet, which now leads as the admiral, and Amanda was at the beginning of her journey towards leading "The Keepers", the biggest and most influential private organisation on the planet. Despite their differences, for the past years, they started working together again, and Jake is their primary focus.
Jake has the most advanced brain on the planet, constantly evolving and slowly beginning to discover his powers. He's the next step in human evolution, a mix between technology and biology. He can bend matter and the minds of the ones around him to his will. Still, he has one Achilles' heel: his sister, Alice. Based on the choices you make, Jake will be either a beacon of hope for all humanity or a tyrant who enslaves everyone, no matter the cost. In the end, no matter the path, one conclusion remains: vengeance leaves behind only destruction and despair.
Expansions
Alongside the main story, we have several expansion packs, each with its own playable character and narrative. They are standalone adventures linked to the main events in Project Bounded.
Some are important pieces of the bigger puzzle, and some are just here to give you a more comprehensive idea of the main plot and the events. Also, they will help you understand the characters and their motivations. Nonetheless, they are all fun to play in their unique way.
The first on the list is "Episode 1 - Awakening", where you get to play as Marcus, an android sent to planet Eris, situated in the Scorpius Constellation, to investigate a strange signal coming from something that looks like a crashed alien ship.
The events happened in 2180 when humanity found the first signs of intelligent alien life... and, humans being humans, they managed to trigger an intergalactic war with an alien race. What happened on Eris remains for you to find out…
Next, we have the "Ghosts of the Past" expansion. Here, you get to play the role of Alex Romanov, the son of Dana Romanov, one of the founders of "The Keepers".
The events are set in the 2000s, in Nemo's Cays, a fictional region in the Bahamas, almost 200 years before the ones in the main story. All we know so far is that something happened back then and, at some point, Alex, Dana, and her two other daughters, Lisa and Judy, vanished without a trace.
With the technology available in the main story timeline, the current members of the organisation found a way to tap into the memories of Alex. Maybe, in the end, we will find out what happened and why Amanda thinks that Alex is, somehow, linked to her son, Jake, the protagonist of the main story of Project Bounded.
"Changing perspective" expansion tells the story of Alice Anderson, and you will get to see the world through her eyes. Young, funny, and irrational sometimes, she's always the spark that ignites Jake.
She and her brother Jake, the protagonist of the main story, have been, since childhood, like a neutron and a Uranium atom, ready to blow up the house. But when they are apart, things might be a little different. All the mocking she does, all her jokes, and all her occasional anger towards her brother Jake may have an explanation. So, playing as her in this expansion will give you a deeper understanding of her character. Also, since she might be the key to saving all humanity, it seems like a good idea to "study" her more closely.
Now... For the bold... Well, here I thought it might be fun to give you all the tools to play around and make your scenes or even your own version of the game. This Sandbox expansion pack will allow you to do everything you want with the main elements of the game. Also, it will be available as a standalone project, under the Developers Bay tier. Think of it like a modding section for Project Bounded.
Technical details
Last but not least, something about the production... The game is developed in Unreal Engine 5 and leverages the power of this tool to bring you state-of-the-art visuals, large open worlds to explore and high-quality gameplay experiences.
And, something I'm very keen on: bring all of the above to a wide as possible range of users. The Nemo's Cays region, where the Romanov's story is set, is a 4x4 km playable area, running at 60FPS on a mid-range PC, with an RTX 3060 12 GB, a Ryzen 7 5800x CPU and 32 GB of RAM. This is the target platform for maximum performance on Epic Settings and 2K resolution.
Just as a small bonus, this is Lisa Romanov, evolved from a rendered DAZ character to a fully fledged Metahuman, animated and voiced (and stripped out of the base Epic clothing, of course). I hope she'll be a very interesting introduction to the world of Bounded, through the Ghosts of the Past expansion.
So, this is all there is to know so far about this amazing world. If you managed to get here, thank you! This is, in short, the summary of the project. The long version can be found in the posts related to Project Bounded, both here and on my Patreon page.
In order to support the project development, you can check out the comic book called "Living Next Door to Alice", which will give you hints about the two main characters of Project Bounded and about the world they live in.
Also, if you're into Game development, you can check out the Developers Bay, a complete Unreal Engine project, regularly updated with the assets and systems I'm implementing in the game, that you can use to build your own worlds.
To wrap things up, I hope you like what you've learned about this project and, if you ever consider it can become a reality and can make a difference in the adult gaming industry, feel free to become a supporting member of this wonderful community we are building here!
Thank you, everyone!
